Frequently Asked Questions
What are your private pay/cash pay rates?
My current standard rate for therapy sessions is $175. I hold a limited number of reduced fee spots. Reduced fee services are offered at $130 and $155, when available.
Where are sessions held?
Sessions are available both in-person in Mesa, AZ and online throughout Arizona.
What should I expect for the first session?
The first therapy session is generally focused on getting acclimated to the therapy process, answering questions you might have about working together, and getting to know more about you, your goals, your background, etc.
Is a mental health diagnosis required for therapy?
It depends. If you are wanting to use insurance benefits to pay for your sessions, then, yes, a mental health diagnosis is required by insurance companies to cover therapy. If you are paying out of pocket, a diagnosis is not generally required.
How do you approach mental health diagnosis?
I see mental health diagnosis as a nuanced and personal topic. For some, a diagnosis can be beneficial—helping with insurance coverage or offering clarity and understanding. For others, it can create unwanted challenges - feeling stuck to a label or potentially affecting things like life insurance or employment eligibility.
My approach is non-pathologizing, meaning I focus on understanding and supporting you as a whole person rather than reducing you to a set of symptoms or a label. Together, we’ll explore what works best for you and your goals.
